Deadly Obsession
Deadly Obsession is my second practice poster for a thriller film. I was provided with different pictures which I was told to put together into a poster.
Making my own practice magazine cover
Stages:
I started making the cover by creating a black background and adding the masthead of the magazine
I uploaded an image of myself onto a new layer and adjusted the contrast of the image to make it more vibrant.
I added some pugs and other information on what is inside the magazine. I also included a barcode at this stage.
At this stage I used the logo of my brothers band as the main story for the magazines issue. I cut it out using the magic wand and fixing any uneven edges using the blur tool. On a new layer I placed underneath the band logo, I traced over the Profanus name with black and turned down the opacity as well as smoothed out the edges so that the white doesn't blend in with my hand.
I added some more stories on the side of what will be covered inside the magazine as well as placed a banner at the bottom of the magazine cover following the design of The Hammer magazine.
Lastly I placed a quote underneath the Profanus logo that matched the overal feel of the magazine. The overal feel of the magazine is supposed to attract a certain audience and I feel the effect was achieved through me following the conventions of this magazine.
